Leadership Opportunities
Becoming a registered leader in Cub Scouting is a great way to enrich the experience for you and your boy! Because our leaders are parents/guardians of active boys in our Pack, we have a continuing need to add new leaders to replace those whose boys are moving on to Boy Scouts.
If you are interested, please "Contact Our Pack".
Cubmaster and Assistant
The Cubmaster is responsible for the Pack program. He/she leads the Pack meetings and supports the Den leaders.
Tiger Den Leader and Assistant
The Tiger Den is for our new first grade scouts. A leader is needed to organize the Den and lead the scouts through the Bobcat and Tiger Rank achievements. Den leaders are trained in Youth Protection and Tiger Den Leader Specific training.
Parents are most involved at the Tiger Cub level. The boy and his parent or guardian join the den together and attend all meetings and activities together.
It is also encouraged that each den also has the parent-son teams take turns running the activities and planning meetings with the Tiger Cub den leader. The den has one meeting a month, at a designated facility, one “Go See It” activity (the den, as a group visits a community place of interest), and they attend the monthly pack meeting.
Two-deep leadership is required at each den meeting and event. Two-deep leadership consists of at least one trained leader and one other adult. Pack 3607 asks each Tiger parent to take Youth Protection Training as a first step in becoming familiar with Scouting.
Other Den Leaders and Assistants
The Den Leader is responsible for leading the boys in their den on their advancement trail to earning their rank. He/she organizes the meetings and provides guidance and leadership during these meetings, communicates awards and provides a monthly update to the Pack at our Pack meetings.
Committee Chair
This critical "behind the scenes" position leads the Pack Committee. He/she organizes and leads a monthly meeting of Pack leadership and assists with various administrative functions to keep our Pack running smoothly.
Treasurer
Another "behind the scenes" position: this person is responsible for maintaining the Pack funds and keeping track of all Scout accounts.
Popcorn "Kernel"
This
critical position leads our popcorn sale fundraiser. He/she
attends training in August, organizes delivery and distribution of our product, and keeps track of sales.
Event Chairs
Pack 3607 needs adult volunteers to lead specific events throughout the year. While this is a shorter-term engagement, it is critical to fun and successful events! Events that need volunteer leaders include: Scouting for Food (October), Blue & Gold Banquet (February), Pinewood Derby (March), and Graduation Party (May).
Committe Member/Other
We have a great team of leaders, but we can always use some outside perspective or unique/special skills. Do you have a wood shop? An interesting hobby or occupation? Do you just want a rewarding and fulfilling way to help make our Pack better?
