Service Unit 54 serves Rocky Point and the surrounding towns and is part of the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County.
Service Unit 54 is active year round, and there is at least one major Service Unit event for our scouts every month. Service Unit Events are events/parties held by the Girl Scouts of Rocky Point for all of the registered Girl Scouts within our area. They are offered to all of the troops as a way to further the mission of Girl Scouts through shared experiences and to let the girls know that Scouting is more than just their individual troop; that we as a Service Unit represent Rocky Point, and that our Service Unit is part of the larger network of GSUSA. These events let the girls get to know girls in other troops, both their own age, and younger and older. Knowing that older girls are still in Girl Scouts helps immensely in retaining membership, and helps the older girls with their leadership skills.
Please consider allowing your daughter to participate in Service Unit events.
Examples include:
September: Recruitment Party
October: Halloween Party
November: Thanksgiving Food Drive
December: Caroling at local nursing home; Christmas Party
January: Ice Skating
February: Dr. Seuss Birthday Party
March: She and Me Luncheon
April: Me and My Guy Bowling
May: Flag Placement/Removal at Calverton National Cemetery
June: End of the year Recruitment Party
July: Splish Splash
August: School Supply Drive; Fishing
In addition to the above Service Unit events, girls participate in other trips and events with their troop.
We are very lucky to have such great scouts and great leaders, which results in a lot of fun at every event!
