July: Summer Camp @ Bashore Reservation Monthly Parent/Leader Meetings-ALL PARENTS ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND!!! Troop parent/leader meeting are held the first Tuesday of every month, with minor exception noted on the calendar during the year. This is a great time for parents to get additional information about troop happenings that may not get communicated to you by your scout. Our troop is a "boy lead" troop, but parents are very much needed to help the troop go!! This is a great time to ask questions and get to know other parents, if you are new to the troop. Merit Badge Opportunities (Mrs. Conn is the Troop Advancement Chair and Troop contact for all issues related to Advancement and Merit badges.) DISTRICT EVENTS Round Table Usually occurs the 2nd Thursday of the month at Baldwin United Methodist Church (across from Caste Village). Adult leaders and parents and Friends of scouting are invited to attend this meeting. (see attachment below for listing of topics for the month). Training Request for information regarding training opportunities should be directed to Mr. Ted Dutkowski, Troop training Chair. Many of the training opportunities have been included on the Event Calendar for September and October. Council-wide Merit Badge training being offered by Eagle Valley District- if you are a merit badge counselor, you need to take this training because all scouts deserve a Trained Leader. Talk to Mr. Dutkowski or Mrs. Rutkowski for more details or Look at the 'Training' page of the website for upcoming training sessions. | | ATTENTION: Please look at the information regarding Youth Protection Training and State of PA Clearances on the Troop Home Page. Anyone who did their clearances when they were first required, in 2015, must renew them by the end of 2020. PA Clearances are still required. COUNCIL AND DISTRICT SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES: Camp Staff - Share the Adventure The Laurel Highlands Council is seeking outstanding applicants for a variety of staff positions at each of its summer camp programs. Positions are available at Heritage Reservation including Cub Scout, Boy Scout and high adventure summer programs, winter camp for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts at Heritage Reservation and summer Cub Scout and Boy Scout program at Camp Seph Mack. Most Scout camp counselors are at least 16 years of age, but the Boy Scout and Cub Scout camps have a limited number of jobs for 15 year olds with previous Counselor in Training experience. The high adventure program employs young people who are at least 18 years of age. UNIT SERVICE MLUMC Food Pantry Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church has a Food Pantry which helps people in the neighborhood. We encourage our Scout families to support this effort. For all of the above food items, please check the "expiration date" on the can or container. They cannot distribute out-of-date food. Please consider donating some to the church by bringing it to the meeting (for more information about donating high quality food, see the SERVICE section of the website).
