History of Troop 306

Troop 306 was originally chartered in 1948; however its predecessor, Troop 6, was chartered in 1919.  Troop 6 was chartered from 1919-1942 out of St. John A. M. E. Church of Bethlehem. Six years later, after going through a process of splitting into districts, Troop 306 was chartered. Troop 306 continuously had a charter from 1948 to 1958, spending 1959 without a charter, and then obtaining a charter again in 1960, lasting until 1983. It went two years, 1983 and 84, unchartered, and has had a charter ever since. The troop has had 20 scoutmasters, beginning with Michael J. Lubrich, and is now under the guidance of Mr. Anthony Garguilo. The troop has had 23 committee chairmen, starting with Gustave Skrivanek, and now, Mr. Andrew Draper. The troop originally started with 7 scouts, and steadily grew until it reached an astounding 55 scouts in 1966, and has declined since to 18. Overall Troop 306 has had 37 Eagle Scouts. Some interesting trips the troop has been on include: Camp Resica Falls, Camp Brookville, Valley Forge, Washington D.C., West Point, Gettysburg, Battleship N.J., the Kutztown Jambo, and Philmont Scout Ranch.
