A major component of the Boy Scout program takes place outdoors. The outdoor element of Scouting is where the Scout learns ecology and practices conservation of nature's resources. It is here where Scouts have the opportunity to explore and to enjoy nature at her finest. Troop 70 has a very active outdoor program. The Troop camps 10 weekends during the course of a year.  These camping trips are weekend-long trips where the Troop leaves and sets up camp Friday night and returns home Sunday. On most of these outings, the Scouts sleep in tents, prepare their own meals as a Patrol, have time to work on advancement, and explore the wilderness. At times, lean-to's will be used and, typically twice-a-year in the winter time, there are two cabin trips.  Once-a-year there is a weekend "Mystery Trip" which is a surprise special outing for the Troop. In July, the Troop takes its week-long summer camp experience at a Boy Scout Reservation.
