THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES FOR SCOUTS

Boy Scouts

The Boy Scouts of America and the National Park Service have been working together since 1971 to provide young men between the ages of 5-18 with the opportunity to learn about resource protection management and other facets of the National Park Service. Boy Scouts participate in park interpretive programs, resource management workshops, and volunteer clean up of parks and the NPS Scout Rangers program.

The relationship between the Boy Scouts and NPS requires that NPS take an active role in representing itself at the Boy Scouts National Jamboree, an event that celebrates the accomplishments of scouts from throughout the nation, and which takes place every four years. At each Jamboree, the NPS sponsors a booth to promote the relationship between the two entities.

For further questions about the Boy Scouts and their relationship with the National Park Service call (202) 513-7146 or visit the Boy Scouts website.
