Why Would We Join this Pack vs. Another Pack?
Pack 321 is very active & has consistently achieved the Unit Quality Award and Summertime Activity Award. The Pack consists of volunteer trained leaders and is run by a committee of parents who share their talents to keep Pack 321’s programs outstanding for the boys. We are always looking for good leaders & welcome any and all parents to share in the ownership of the Pack!
How Much Does it Cost?
The Annual Registration Fee (due with application) is $125
This fee covers: BSA registration and insurance, Cub Scout handbook for the corresponding den, neckerchief, slide, and all awards earned by the boys throughout the year, plus a one year subscription to Boys Life Magazine. Once the application is processed, the registration fee is non-refundable.
We participate in two fundraisers. Our primary fundraiser involves the sale of popcorn & popcorn products. It is not required that scouts sell popcorn individually, but instead each scout is required to attend a Show & Sell event. Also, each scout is asked to participate in the Troop 21 Christmas Tree Sale. Profits from the tree sale are shared.
Pack 321 tries very hard to keep costs low and we pride ourselves on providing an "all-inclusive" registration approach. There are NO monthly fees in this pack! Some of our activities, such as camping trips, and events sponsored by the Council, may require an additional charge.
When Can My Son/Daughter Join?
Children in grades K-5 can join Cub Scouts at any time. The “formal” program (with den meetings) usually begins in August and runs through the school year, with some activities over the summer.
Our Kindergarten children (Lions Den) participates in a slightly modified program that allows them to be introduced to Scouting.
When and Where are the Meetings?
The Den meeting time/day/location is determined by the Den leader with input from the families. Some Dens meet twice a month and some choose to meet only once, usually for an hour. Pack meetings are held every month, usually on the third Monday at 6:30 pm. At this meeting, every child's achievements are recognized and awards are given. Pack meetings are held either at Bluff Park United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall or on location for the month’s activity. We typically offer a monthly Pack Activity as well, which is usually held on Saturday.
At least one Tiger and Lion (K-5 and first grade) parent/guardian is required to be at every den meeting or outing.
What Uniform is Required?
Each Cub Scout should have the blue Cub Scout shirt with appropriate patches. We recommend Tigers buy an oversized shirt to wear throughout the progression from Tiger to Wolf to Bear to WEBELOS. The corresponding belt should also be purchased to accommodate awards. Official Cub Scout pants, socks and caps are optional. We ask that boys wear blue, khaki or denim shorts or pants. The neckerchief, slide, handbook and all patches are provided by the Pack as part of registration. Incoming WEBELOS may choose to buy a Boy Scout uniform instead of a Cub Scout uniform. Contact the Scout Shop at Liberty Park at (205) 969-4263 for current operating hours.
