Scouting for food is an ongoing annual program of the Boy Scouts of America that collects food for the local food banks. It is organized at the local level throughout the country. The Scouting for Food program is a project rooted in the very foundation of the Scouting movement and it's dedication to "Do a Good Turn Daily."
Each year, local Cub and Boy Scouts leave plastic bags for their neighbors soliciting canned food items . One week later, the Scouts return to pick up and deliver the bags of food to the local food bank. Additionally, the Scouts may stand outside major food retailers soliciting donations from shoppers. The donations will usually be delivered directly to the local food bank that day.
Pack 47 participates annually in this program in the beginning of November along with our parent Troop, Troop 47. We encourage all the Cubs to help out and do their "good turn."
