Cub Scouting encourages each boy to strive for his personal best, a lesson that will help him achieve success as he enters Boy Scouting, and throughout his adult life. Cub Scout activities encourage character development, physical coordination, family unity, and enthusiasm for learning. Cub Scouting helps boys develop a sense of teamwork, achievement, self-confidence, and respect for others. Learning to master new skills helps the Cub Scout realize his own abilities and discover that his can-do attitude is the first sign of success in any endeavor. It’s no surprise that the Cub Scout motto is DO YOUR BEST.
Cub Scouts pay back the communities that support them in a variety of ways. Good Citizenship is a central theme in scouting, and at the Cub Scout level, this generally means community service in a group setting. Pack 57 participates in many community service activities throughout the year, including:
- Adopt-A-Highway road clean-ups
- Leaf raking at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ
- Trail clean-ups at Maple Grove Forest Preserve
- Toys for Tots collection
- Caroling to the senior citizens at Rest Haven
- Marching in the Memorial Day parade and serving in the Honor Guard at Fishel Park
- Trail clean-ups during campouts (e.g., Starved Rock State Park)
- Marching in the Fourth of July parade
- Friends of Scouting collection (to defray the cost of scouting participation for families in financial need).
Your support of Pack 57’s fundraising activities enables us to continue these worthy activities, and contributes to the character development of the Cub Scouts.
We, the families and adult leaders of Pack 57, thank you very much for this support.
