Troop 1750 serving our community for over 15 years
Founded on May 25, 1999, we are a small, friendly and active troop that focuses on Outdoor Fun, Personal Growth, Learning and Service. Our philosophy is that the best way for boys to grow into responsible men is to learn from personal experience. Therefore, we are a Boy Run Troop -- meaning that our boys have the responsibility for choosing and planning what our troop does. By taking on the responsibility of running the troop (under the gentle guiding hand of dedicated adult leaders trained in Boy Scout Aims and Methods), boys learn organizational and interpersonal skills that will help them throughout their lifetimes. The boys also have fun because the boys choose what activities they want to pursue!!!! Moreover, we love and respect the outdoors and view nature with awe and amazment. The outdoors is our classroom, where our boys learn life skills. Therefore, our goal is to go either hiking, biking, climbing or camping every month. In other words, to us "Scouting Means Outing."
We also believe in service. Our troop supports the Carroll District, Baltimore Area Council, the Order of the Arrow, and Camp Oest by providing youth and adults to help run their programs and enhance their Staff. Our boys have served as Camp Oest and Camp Rodney staff members, worked as staff members on the Webelos Woods program, taught classes at the District Junior Leadership Training course and at the OA Lodge Leadership Development Course, and have held OA positions such as Chapter Chief and Lodge Vice Chair of special programs. We also engage in food drives and other activiities to help our community.
We are located at the Mount Zion UM Church, 3006 Old Westminster Road. Finksburg, MD. 21048.
Our meeting times are Tuesdays from 7pm - 8:00 - 8:30pm weekly.
